The AI paradox among finance professionals

While finance professionals in Singapore are increasingly becoming more confident in their ability to learn and apply AI skills, many are still fearing how the technological advancement will affect their role.

This is the prevailing AI paradox among finance professionals, as found by the latest report by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, revealing that the concern on AI’s impact on finance roles has not eased even if AI adoption has accelerated.

The report found that 51% of respondents from Singapore are now regularly using AI tools in their day-to-day work, but just 41% say they trust AI algorithms to support fair and unbiased hiring decisions.

This shows a growing gap between AI’s promise and the profession’s confidence in how it is being governed.

Moreover, the ACCA report also revealed that 70% of respondents say an organisation’s reputation on social
and human rights issues is a key factor in deciding where to work, with 54% saying they want to pursue finance roles focused on social impact in the future.
