HKEX Adds Bursa Malaysia as Recognised Stock Exchange
The Hong Kong Stock Exchange has added Bursa Malaysia as a recognised stock exchange, enabling public companies with a primary listing on Bursa Malaysia’s main market to apply for a secondary listing in Hong Kong.
According to a press release, the move increases the number of RSEs in Southeast Asia to four, adding to the Indonesia Stock Exchange, the Singapore Exchange, and the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
This comes after the memorandum of understanding signed between HKEX and Bursa Malaysia Berhad earlier this year, coinciding with the signing of a separate MOU between Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) to expand mutual market access, underscoring the deepening ties between Hong Kong and Malaysia’s financial markets.
