Digital transformation and innovation emerged as top M&A deal drivers in Southeast Asia, according to a report by Norton Rose Fulbright.
The study, which was in collaboration with Mergermarket, revealed that 50% of the respondents believe pursuing digital transformation is a major motivator, reflecting efforts to acquire new technologies and modernise businesses.
Meanwhile, in terms of regulatory concerns, 48% of respondents in South and Southeast Asia were found to be more concerned about foreign investment and subsidy regulations hindering deals. The region is also expected to be led by domestic strategic acquirers, as 57%
cite these as most active, and domestic private equity funds.
