As digital transformation continues to reshape the finance function, CFOs and finance leaders are under increasing pressure to ensure that technology investments translate into measurable business value.
Beyond automating routine processes, finance teams are expected to deliver timely insights, strengthen strategic decision-making and respond more effectively to shifting business conditions.
This makes the choice of digital transformation priorities increasingly important as organisations determine where to focus their resources and capabilities in 2026.
A poll by Cxociety during the 5th Annual FutureCFO Conference in Hong Kong in 2025 highlighted the growing importance of data-driven decision-making, alongside collaboration, innovation, agility and cybersecurity, in shaping the future of finance, with a staggering 61% of the respondents seeing enhancing data-driven insights as the key aspect of digital transformation poised to have the most significant impact on the finance function in 2026.
For CFOs and senior finance leaders, this underscores the importance of strengthening data quality, analytics capabilities and access to timely financial and operational information to support forecasting, capital allocation and strategic planning.

Building collaborative ecosystems ranked second, with 25% of respondents identifying it as the most impactful factor. The result highlights the perceived value of closer collaboration across finance teams, technology providers and other business functions in advancing digital initiatives.
Meanwhile, cultural shifts towards innovation and embracing agility each received 6%, while strengthening cybersecurity measures accounted for 3%. Although these factors received fewer votes, they remain relevant to successful transformation, particularly as finance teams adopt new technologies and work with increasingly interconnected systems.
For finance leaders, the poll points to a potential shift in digital transformation priorities from technology adoption alone towards extracting greater business value from data.
Investments in analytics and integrated systems could help finance functions identify emerging risks, improve forecasting accuracy and provide decision-makers with a clearer view of business performance.
However, turning data into reliable insights also depends on sound data governance, skilled teams and effective collaboration across the organisation.
AI Readiness & Data Trust: Building the Foundations for Finance Transformation
CFOs are faced with the mounting pressure to deliver trustworthy, AI‑enabled finance strategies despite persistent obstacles of fragmented governance and unreliable data foundations.
As enterprises accelerate digital adoption, CFOs must not only champion AI readiness but also assume responsibility for data integrity—ensuring that financial insights remain accurate, compliant, and resilient across jurisdictions.
The 6th Annual FutureCFO Conference Hong Kong 2026, themed “Forging Future Advantage” seeks to be a vital platform for finance leaders in Hong Kong to redefine leadership, embed data trust, orchestrate risk with AI, and integrate ESG into the financial core.
