Maya rolled out Google Pay support for Maya credit cards, becoming one of the first banks in the Philippines to enable Tap-to-Pay directly linked to credit cards and thereby pioneering the next stage of contactless payments.
According to a press release, Maya Credit Card users can now download Google Wallet from the Playstore and add their cards and tap their Android phones at any Visa or Mastercard contactless terminal worldwide.
Soon, the feature will also be directly available via the Maya app and support for prepaid cards will follow.
The move will mark a shift in how Filipinos will pay as most mobile contactless options today rely on stored wallet balances or work only on Android.
Maya says their approach is different, as it connects straight to users’ actual card accounts, letting them pay using their existing credit lines—and later their prepaid balances—with just a tap.
Every tap will be secured by Visa-grade tokenisation, which replaces sensitive card details with encrypted digital credentials validated in real time for global-level protection.
